Why I’m a vegan.

WARNING: This is not for the faint hearted. I dare you to read.

I first became a vegan a little over 5 years ago. It’s not something I had ever thought about or really considered doing. It happened in just one evening, just like that.

I loved my steaks like nobody’s business. Eggs! Oh how I loved eggs with fried potatoes. I still miss eggs, but I will Never eat them again. I’m about to tell you why.

Ok, lots of people get down on vegans. Some of my family ridicules me and makes fun of me. That’s the only challenge I have about being a vegan. Otherwise, I’m good and set, for life. I will NEVER go back. I’m about to tell you why. But before I do, there’s something I’d like to say. Many people get down on vegans. This just shouldn’t be. It’s MY lifestyle. You have yours, I have mine. There is great compassion in what I do. I became a vegan because of animals.

Of course I love animals! Many people say they do, but then they eat them. You wouldn’t eat your dog, your cat would you? Well, ALL animals feel pain, emotionally, physically, mentally and they feel fear.

I know some vegans who are very militant and try to push it on you and can be very nasty. this is not my way. However, given the right moment I will try to educate because I’m so glad someone educated me. And I make kick-ass recipes, you couldn’t tell the difference!

It started the night I was on YouTube. Someone told me about a documentary  called  ‘Earthlings.’ It is about undercover footage in slaughterhouses and factory farms. I wasn’t prepared for what I was about to see! But I’m so glad to this day the lies of advertising was exposed to me. For instance, there is no such thing as ‘free-range organic’ chicken. They all end up the same way, getting slaughtered cruelly. In factory farms, chickens are stacked on top of each other in tiny cages, getting sick, and many die. I have seen men yank them ruthlessly by their feathers and throw them in bins. When they are slaughtered they are on a sort of conveyor  that slits their throats and many don’t die right away and suffer. When A chick is born, the first thing they do is burn their beaks off with no anesthetic. Baby male chicks are considered useless and are put on a conveyor belt that takes them to a grinder and they are ground up alive!

There is so much more I could tell you about the cruelty and abuse that goes on inside of these places. Please watch the video ‘Earthlings.’ I dare you!

My appetite for eating animals is gone. I will not support the industry that does these atrocious cruelties.

I can’t begin to describe to you what my eyes have seen. Atrocities almost beyond believe that man could be so cold and mean. In the films I’ve watched, I’ve never seen a woman.

Finally, one more thing I’d like to ask of you. Please, please don’t buy fur. Even a lot of what’s called Faux fur is mislabeled to to get you to buy it. Their are vegan alternatives for about everything you can think of, and you will not be taking part in harming animals. Because, China and Korea skins animals alive and tortures them so they can sell fur to you!  Thank you.
